3. In words
The dialogues in this book are very simple, all the way through it. They never get any harder, because the vocabulary used it very limited. I think this kind of gives a wrong image of how much Finnish you really know at the end of it. The amount of exercises is limited, the solutions are available in the back of the book. The exercises are the typical "fill in the gap", "translate from Finnish into English", "translate from English into Finnish" and answering questions.
The grammar explanations are very easy to understand, even if they don't cover that much subjects. This is good in a way, because students who have gone through this book will know the basic grammar pretty well. The book gives you a very solid base to start from.
You can listen to all the dialogues and vocabulary lists if you also acquire the CDs that come with it.
