Prepositions
There are few important prepositions in Finnish. The language uses a lot more postpositions. In prepositional phrases the noun is always in the partitive, and is written behind the preposition.

Some postpositions can also be used as prepositions:

| kylän keskellä | keskellä kylää | in the middle of the village |
| kirkon lähellä | lähellä kirkkoa | near the church |
| hotellia vastapäätä | vastapäätä hotellia | across the road of the hotel |
